ready.. set..

New year.  New start.  Beginnings.

ready.. set.. go!  Right??

That’s usually how it works, but if you’re anything like me, this ‘new’ is a not quite ready to ‘GO!’

New Year’s Eve found me in the dentist’s chair.  RIP to 2 of my wisdom teeth.  Fortunately, I have a rather indulging dentist.  He’s not pushing to take out my other 2, just yet.  Thankfully, he is holistically inclined enough to let nature take its course.

So instead of wearing a unicorn horn, splashing in glitter, & dancing.. I was fast asleep under covers when most of y’all were ushering in the ‘new.’  Yay, not.  *giggles*

Several of my clients are still exhausted from the holiday & a few have suffered recent tragedy.

So, this update is to wish you all the very best & remind you that you’ll know when it’s time to “go!”  Maybe that’s not today.  Maybe it won’t be for awhile yet, but life is not about following the crowd, it’s about following your heart.  Listen to your spirit.  Now may be a time of quiet recovery.  It may be a time to share your strength with others.

I assure you, when it’s time, you’ll be revved up & ready.  Until then, embrace the stillness of the in between.  As much as the clock keeps on ticking, we’re so much more than chronological clocks & calendar dates.  There’s always time for celebration.  We know when it’s the right time to begin.  All we have to do is listen with our heart’s awareness.  Trust you…  I do.

All Zipped Up

Zip Line Texas

Zip Lining?!

Sure, why not!

As a spiritual traveller, I’m up for most any adventure!

We came.  We saw.  We sorta.. conquered.  *laughs*

Before I get too far into the story, let’s start at the beginning.

We visited Zip Nac, a very well put together zipline park in Nacogdoches, Texas.  It was clean, neat, & charming.  More than anything, I noticed it was super-supervised.

We had a good time gettin’ all trussed up!  There was all sorts of protection gear & we had to take an instructional class.

During the class, we were trained carefully in safety precautions.  How to manage the metal lining; turning your body, slowing, & stopping.  I zipped a few times & had a difficult time maneuvering it all with my left wrist.  I’m pretty healthy & fit, so it was surprising how much I was tweaking my wrist just in the practice runs.  This could be potentially bad for my massage practice, as I need my hands & wrists in excellent condition at all times.

Between my friend’s short waist & short arms, her top harness threatened to displace ribs.  So we tried a few different options & finally concluded to skip it.

Sometimes in life, you think you want something until you actually get there.  True, we could have forced ourselves into going through with it.  Instead, we looked at our options & made the smartest choice we had at the time.  I saved my wrists & she saved her ribs.  Fortunately, we are both tuned in enough to listen to our bodies.

So I hope yall enjoy the zipping!  I may try again at another park that perhaps offers safer regulation on manual operation using your hands.  Or maybe I’ll stick to seated zipline rides.

For now, I feel like we’re the Heroines in our own journeys.  I’m so proud!  Knowing my limits makes my life more exciting because I know I can trust myself.. & that IS the spiritual journey I conquered.

Lavender Sugar Cookies

Lavender Sugar Cookies by Lynn Van Noy

Happy Weekend!

The sun is streaming in like liquid gold and the air is crisp with excitement.  The on-again off-again baker in me is beginning to hum.. ready to warm up the stove for some delightful treats.

Every year, about this time, I instinctively start making Lavender Sugar Cookies.. *yom*

My family & friends literally bring me cookie tins to fill up with my all natural herb flower doughy decadence.

I have it on good authority these cookies have strong anti-depressant & hunger-suppressant qualities.  So, chill out & watch your waistline, all while treating your senses to this dainty little lavender surprise!

Change interupts chemical continuity in the brain. Those who are addicted to emotional & thought pattern chemicals have the most trouble with change.
